Kookaburra Hill Luxury Self Contained Accommodation in Kangaroo Valley

Kookaburra Hill is a contemporary architect-designed solar passive house on 5 acres - just 700 metres to Kangaroo Valley village on the NSW South Coast, a 2-hour drive from Sydney or Canberra. Historic Berry is 20 minutes away, Bowral 30 minutes and it is only 20 minutes to a major shopping and entertainment centre in Nowra.

The house is set back far from the road (200 metres) and the double glazing and thick gum forest means you do not hear anything. You feel "away" from it all and can wake up gazing at Wedding Cake Mountain and the restful country mountains and hillsides.

It has a purpose-built 3-bedroom self contained guest accommodation with a private entrance which is part of a large country house. The accommodation has ducted RC air-conditioned luxurious comfort so you set the temperature, winter or summer, and all windows are double glazed and have insect screening. It sleeps up to 5 adults or 6 including children in one group. The accommodation and the main residence are under the one roof but are separated by a hallway with 2 locked doors and are separate with different entrances and no common areas or facilities - the "best" or north-eastern end of the house facing the mountains is the accommodation. Guests privacy is respected at all times by the owner who is not far away if you have a question of her.

The suite has its own Daikin ducted reverse cycle AC and hot water systems. You have your own stainless steel outdoor kitchen with Ilve cooktop and dishwasher to cook up a great meal between your living room and the solar heated in-ground salt water pool just outside which will be yours to enjoy alone. Families and children are welcome - come and stretch out and enjoy the quiet solitude and acres of lawns and natural bushland. There are stunning mountain views from the water and cabana. It is heavenly to laze in the pool on a hot summer's evening watching the reflected sunset over the (eastern) escarpments and mountains. And there's few or no mozzies (the secret is tiny microbats in summer).

Guests have the full run of the five acres of gardens and bushland and can stroll to Kangaroo Valley village cafes and restaurants, a stone's throw from the front gate down a footpath. Kookaburra Hill is very popular with couples as well as with families and children with the pool in full view from your living areas (and pool fencing of course) and the farm-stay atmosphere with resident friendly ponies, ducks and chickens. The property is bliss for accompanying dogs with two acres of fenced park-like lawns. New ducklings November 2010.

The gardens are stunning with over 450 heritage perfumed roses, fruit trees, native plants and many birds, frogs and lizards. Flowers can be picked and fruit plucked from the trees when in season.

Kookaburra Hill is a million miles from stress but there is broadband internet access so you can check your email from the cabana with stunning views. The mobile reception is excellent. But of course you didn't need to know that ...

Kookaburra Hill guests frequently return, some many times and even regard it as "their country home" - see guest book. The spring and summer school holidays are popular and book well in advance. Warm evenings might see you relaxing by the pool in the cabana, watching the sunset over the mountains, perhaps as you cook some local meat or fish on the ILVE gas cooktop and volcanic rock barbecue and pick some garden produce.
