One hour old, just on his feet. Born at Kookaburra Hill, on a sunny morning, Wednesday September 26, 2007. Shown with two admirers, left at two weeks of age and right at one week old.
Dam is Killarney Keva (M-11553) and sire is Imperial Pranc (S-2144), both of whom are noted for their exceptionally gentle temperaments. He has a good conformation and enormous black eyes. Currently chestnut but will turn grey (like the dam and sire) but with a stunning white blaze with black mane and tail. May develop black points like his mum. The dam, Killarney Keva has Coed Coch and Nattai bloodlines. The sire also has an impressive pedigree.
Lachie is enjoying learning about life and how to be a pony as well as finding out about humans, particularly children, respect, dogs, chooks and the rest. Tolerated a halter from 3 days of age (see photo at two weeks below). And soon he will be shown how to be led, how to get on a float with his mum and more. Although Lachie is young, he already shows a gentle quiet nature. Welsh A ponies are renown for their temperament and Lachie comes from a dam and sire that are as quiet and gentle as they come. Lachie is named for my grandson, Lachlan Davis.

Two weeks of age. Lachie likes to explore his mum's food, hooves and all. She adores him and accepts it all, at this stage anyway.
Some more early photos:

Wobbly and just up to the rapt attention of his devoted mum in this first hour of life.
First drink, first sleep (mum kept touching him to make sure he was still alive) and, 24 hours old, his first trot.

Now 7 weeks old. Apple is my absolute fave. After milk. My hair is turning a soft grey, just like my human mum said it would but it was her friend who told her that. Right now I have grey hair around my eyes and on my mouth and I am brown in the middle - all a bit confusing. I don't care what colour I am. I think I am pretty lovely and so does all my family.
There's lots of tiny little scary monsters that fly and get in your nose and in your eye. I hate them. My Aunty Elle is wearing a funny black forelock but she got this off in the time it takes to gallop around the paddock. She said shell me later how she does it. Human mum was not impressed. My horsey mum is wearing this black bag on her head. My human mum tried to put one on me but I killed it in a very brave manner. She didn't try again.
Below are some of my family with my mum looking out for me and behind her is Violet (a dog of all things!) who also looks out for me. Time for a snooze. Or maybe some milk.

Well I am now 16 weeks old! Really quite a little colt now. I am almost totally grey, a pale grey with four black 'anklets' and my white blaze of course. There's still some of my baby chestnut hair in spots but it is all falling out. I am confusing everyone now as I have developed cream eye bands and cream on my nose and around my ears. It makes me look even more gorgeous.
Now this young friend is nice and she wants to play ... :-) I like to play.

I am still enjoying playing with kids. Love stealing these hats! I am now letting my human mum put this rope on me but I don't really understand what it is all about yet. But I want to be like the grown up horses and I follow my mum Kevarose if she is being led on a rope and so I let them put the halter and rope, and even a saddle blanket on and follow my mum around as someone leads her. I don't really understand it yet like my mum or my aunty Elle, but I will as they seem to enjoy having people on their backs.

What is that funny smell? Now can pull the hat off this little boy's head. Yes I can and it makes him laugh.

Almost two years have passed. Lachie is a wonderful young gelding enjoying life at Kookaburra Hill with his mum Kevarose. He loves to gallop down to greet visitors and is learning lots of new things. Photos and more stories to come. How can two years have passed in the blink of any eye?
