Below (left to right) is Reine de Violette, close up of same, and a Julia's rose.
Below is a tea rose, Mrs Herbert Stevens, that was planted only 5 weeks ago from bare rooted stock and look at the blooms she is already putting out! Haven't even had time to properly mulch and feed her although she did get compost and a little lucerne hay.

There has been some discussion on the Roses in Oz forum about the use of RoundUp near roses. I use the Bioactive form of concentrate and mix up 18 L at a time for spraying the garden edges and one bank that the kikuyu had taken over. On this bank I planted a successful cutting of Seafoam about 3 months ago but it has not been fed at all and so has not grown a lot.sprayed around it with Roundup 5 days ago and will now clear the dead kikiyu and plant the bank and feed the seafoam and pandora creeper. The Roundup has not affected the rose even though I sprayed close to it with a very directional sprayer. Photo on left is the bank (Seafoam in the centre) and the right is a close up of the centre of the photo showing the little Seafoam rose .

Photos below show a new Monsieur Tillier with Round Up sprayed on garden bed edge 5 days earlier (see yellow edges) and around the rose. On the right is a new Scabrosa border with yellowed Round-Up sprayed kikiyu in between 2 scabrosas and at the left of the photo. All of these roses are still fine a week after I took these photos and have not been affected by the Round Up spraying.
